
The Memorial Day holiday weekend has concluded, and troopers from the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post remained highly active throughout the period to ensure motorists’ safety. With increased traffic expected during the extended weekend, troopers conducted focused patrols aimed at identifying impaired drivers, enforcing traffic laws, and responding to roadway incidents.
Between Friday, May 23, and Monday, May 26, troopers conducted 386 traffic stops, resulting in the following enforcement and investigative actions:
- Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) Arrests: 11
- Drug Investigations: 11
- Felony Arrests: 8
- Driver’s License Violations: 11
- Reckless Driving Arrests: 4
- Vehicle Pursuits: 1
- Crashes Investigated: 12
Troopers across the district worked diligently to remove impaired and dangerous drivers from the road while maintaining a visible presence to deter unsafe driving behaviors.
