Among more than 240,000 Illinois workers still looking to replace jobs lost during the pandemic, some will find their next opportunity at the end of a castle drawbridge. With fans returning to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament for the first time in more than a year, beginning tomorrow night, the popular entertainment venue has posted full and part-time openings for bartenders, food servers, stable hands, retail staff, spotlight operators, and even the less common, knight’s squire.
Medieval Times announced plans to reopen its Chicago castle last month, on the heels of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s expansion of Illinois’ Phase 4 guidelines to allow indoor performing arts venues accommodating more than 200 people to operate at 25 percent capacity. The company’s reopening plan requires all guests and team members wear masks and have their temperature taken before entering the castle. Parties will be seated a minimum of six feet apart in the tournament arena and Medieval Times staff will disinfect high-touch areas multiple times during each show. Digital menus will be accessible through smartphones and disposable silverware will be available upon request.
