The Miller Beach Arts & Creative District announced today that it has received a $5000 grant from Legacy Foundation, Lake County’s community foundation, to support its 2025 Arts and Wellness program.
The MBACD is a community visual and performing arts organization founded in 2012 to be a dynamic hub of creative cultural and economic activity and catalyzes community regeneration, sustainability, and enriched quality of life in Miller Beach, the city of Gary, and the surrounding region. The Arts and Wellness program features art classes in a variety of media, including printmaking, drawing, textiles, workshops with exhibiting artists, dance, and weekly free community yoga classes.
“We are extremely grateful to Legacy Foundation for their recognition and support of our organization’s work,” said Julia Gibbs, executive director,” For several years we have been able to offer low-cost classes and activities to our community. This grant allows us to build our program for the coming year and create a sustainable program for years to come.”
