Marriott Theatre, Lincolnshire has announced the return of its popular concert programming produced by Artists Lounge Live with a series of three concerts saluting some of the very best-loved pop stars and hit songs of the 1950’s, '60’s, and '70s. The concerts will be performed twice each, on three successive Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons in August.
Leading off this series will be a return engagement of HIGHER AND HIGHER: A ROCK ’N SOUL PARTY WITH CHESTER GREGORY. In this high energy revue, a huge hit with audiences when performed at the Marriott Theatre in August 2019, Broadway star and recording artist Chester Gregory highlights hits of greats like Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, James Brown, and more. The star of MOTOWN: THE MUSICAL, HAIRSPRAY, and DREAMGIRLS, Gregory won acclaim for his outstanding portrayal of Jackie Wilson in THE JACKIE WILSON STORY.
THE NEW YORK TIMES exclaims Gregory is "jaw dropping" and "over-flowingly charismatic." Featuring a sensational band, songs include "(Sitting on) The Dock of the Bay," "I Got You (I Feel Good)," and "My Girl." HIGHER AND HIGHER will be performed Saturday, August 14 at 7 pm and Sunday, August 15 at 3 pm.
HIGHER AND HIGHER will be followed at Marriott by the premiere of MY HAPPINESS: MICHELLE LAUTO SINGS CONNIE FRANCIS. With soaring vocals, ebullient charm, and emotional depth, award-winning singer/actress Michelle Lauto (SPAMILTON, IN THE HEIGHTS) relates the heart-rending story of the original princess of pop in a concert brimming with sentimental favorites like "Who's Sorry Now," "Stupid Cupid," and "Where the Boys Are.” The CHICAGO TRIBUNE calls Lauto, “dynamic... terrific... truly wonderful."
And like Connie, she's an irrepressible Jersey girl with a sensational voice. MY HAPPINESS will be performed Saturday, August 21 at 7 pm and Sunday, August 22 at 3 pm.
The following weekend, the electrifying Brandon Bennett of Chicago's MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET will bring to the Marriott stage ELVIS MY WAY, STARRING BRANDON BENNETT – a spine-tingling tribute to “King of Rock” Elvis Presley. With his authentic southern charm, glorious voice, and powerful moves, Bennett was named the “Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist” by Elvis Presley Enterprises at Graceland.
His breathtaking retrospective traverses the King's career: the Rock n’ Roll nativity of the 50s, the iconic comeback of the 60s, and the legendary lounge acts of the 70s. Hits include “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” “Suspicious Minds,” and many more. Bennett will perform ELVIS MY WAY on Saturday, August 28 at 7 pm and Sunday, August 29 at 3 pm.
