Due to several recent mail thefts in Munster, from the outdoor mailbox at the US Post Office, 815 Ridge, a box outside the Jewel Osco at 716 Ridge, and the condominium box at 8220 Harrison, the Munster Police Department offers the followint tips for Mail Theft Prevention:
--Collect mail as soon as possible/ask a neighbor to pick up yours
--Deposit outgoing mail inside of the post office
--Never use flags on your mailbox to show that mail is present
--Go paperless/pay bills online
--Use a mail hold while on vacation
--Require signatures for packages
--Install cameras and/or a video doorbell
--Never put mail into an overflowing mailbox
