The magic of puppetry shines in 'The Enormous Crocodile' - By Eloise Marie Valadez

Gather your young family members for a whimsical adventure currently lighting up the stage in The Windy City.

"The Enormous Crocodile: The Musical" stars at The Studebaker Theater in Chicago. The show, which is presented as part of The Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival, continues to Feb. 21.

Audience members of all ages will surely be drawn into the story of this famished crocodile who is intent on searching for children for his daily meals.

The show, presented by The Roald Dahl Story Company, is a fast-moving production with witty songs, clever staging and a colorful set. The actors in the show are also fine puppeteers. It's fascinating to watch as they make the inventive puppets come to life.

There are even some segments of audience interaction prior to the show and one interactive moment during the show which the children particularly enjoyed.

Starring in the production are Chelsea Da Silva as The Enormous Crocodile, Precious Abimbola as Trunky the Elephant, Jordan Eskeisa as Humpy Rumpy the Hippopotamus and Marienella Phillips as Muggle Wump the Monkey. Clara Hudson portrays Roly Poly Bird. During the opening night performance, Rene Francalanza performed as Roly Poly Bird.

This is the Chicago premiere of the production, which is based on Roald Dahl's book. It previously played in the UK, Minneapolis and Los Angeles.

Young theater fans will surely be drawn into the engaging tale of "The Enormous Crocodile." Catchy songs, fascinating puppets and a creative story definitely win audiences over.
