Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) welcomes Whitney Bradshaw as their new curator effective September 2023.

Whitney BradshawBradshaw is an artist, activist, curator and former social worker who lives and works in Chicago and more recently, Miller Beach, Ind. Bradshaw is also a long-time educator. She was the chair of the visual art conservatory at the Chicago High School for the Arts for ten years and was an adjunct professor at Columbia College Chicago for thirteen years. She was also the curator of the renowned LaSalle Bank Photography Collection and later the Bank of America Collection. Prior to that, she was a curatorial assistant and assistant registrar at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago.

Janet Bloch, executive director of LCA, said, “Whitney is a consummate professional. Her experience in curation and education is vast and in addition, she is a successful practicing artist. This is a winning combination of skills and I feel very fortunate that she is joining LCA’s team.”

As LCA's curator and part of the leadership team, Bradshaw will put forth a program of exhibitions that is accessible and relevant to our community and the art world. She will build relationships with artists, museums, collectors and critics and support the values of LCA: excellence, relevance, accessibility, respect and inclusion. Giving engaging exhibit tours for adults will also be part of Bradshaw's duties.

To schedule a free tour with Bradshaw of the current "Vivian Maier: In Color" exhibition at LCA, contact Bloch at 219-884-4990 or jbloch@LubeznikCenter.org

“I am a long-time fan of the work being done at LCA. The programming is consistently contemporary, engaging and intersectional. LCA is truly a Midwestern gem! I'm dedicated to equity, inclusion and cultural competency, and I believe I have a lot to contribute. I am eager to get started and to engage with Lubeznik’s community!” said Bradshaw.
