Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) is thrilled to announce the June 14 opening of its summer blockbuster exhibition: Bramson / Indiana / Lake.

Cautionary tales and lessons of the past, sober warnings about the future, and allegorical elements are visible in the work of all three artists exhibiting at LCA this summer.

Exhibiting in the Hyndman Gallery is work by Phyllis Bramson that spans two decades of her illustrious career. Bramson’s art, which reflects both an affinity for allegory and critique of human folly, includes richly ornate paintings and sculptures that integrate edginess, beauty, and humor.

What Went Wrong, 2004 by Phyllis Bramson

Robert Indiana, whose works occupy LCA's Brincka/Cross Gallery, creates signposts to warn us about the future. Widely known for his signature piece, LOVE, 1966, Indiana also explores America’s political past from the 1960s and ‘70s. Seven original prints are on display in the Brincka/Cross Gallery.

Mayumi Lake creates an exquisite, site-specific installation in LCA's Susan Block Gallery that reclaims and updates the use of Housouge. Housouge is a motif made up of a fanciful fusion of flowers, leaves, and fruit. During times of disaster in ancient Japan, whether natural or human-made, individuals filled sacred sites with these bold, mythical flowers to quell fear and despair.

No registration is necessary for the First Friday opening celebration on July 2.
