Improductions, LLC returns to live performances in Northwest Indiana after over a year of being strictly online in a new showcase called Dynamic Duos on Friday August 20 at 7:30 PM CT at Carriage Court Pizza (2nd Floor Event Room) in Crown Point, IN. This show features three unique improv duos that span everything from traditional long-form improv to an improvised love advice talk show to performing fully improvised musicals. "It's been over a year since we've done this," says producer Nelson Velazquez. "Roughly 4 weeks after things shutdown in 2020 due to the pandemic, we had moved our entire performance schedule to being online only. It was a big learning experience but now we're experts at it. Now we face a new challenge going back to live performances in a different world than when we were here last. Good thing we know how to roll with the changes."
The pandemic has affected the entertainment industry greatly as social distancing, mask mandates, and varying vaccination levels have required performing organizations to take new precautions in producing their works in the "new normal". "We plan on limiting seating to establish social distancing as well as heavily encouraging our patrons to stay masked during the performances when not eating or drinking, " Velazquez adds. "The performers will not be masked during their performances but will be masked the rest of the evening."
The three acts include Cheaper Than Marriage Coun$eling where a married couple with 40+ years of marriage experience that serve to fuel improvised scenes from, Love & Improv - an improvised love advice talk show where two improvisers delve into what makes real relationships work through the lens of improv and love, and #CarOfSecrets which features two improvisers creating a full blown 1 act improvised musical based off audience suggestions.
