23rd Annual LCPL Foundation Literary Tea

We have just a few seats left at the annual Literary Tea coming up April 12 at Merrillville Branch! Leslie Goddard dressed as Julia Child

Join us for a full afternoon tea with dessert catered by The Gourmet Goddess; plus a performance by actress and scholar Leslie Goddard as she takes us back in time to bring to life the iconic Julia Child.

Reservations are $40. Your seat is secured upon receipt of payment.

Reservations may be purchased at any LCPL location. Cash or check only. Make checks payable to LCPL Foundation.

Seating is limited! Reservations must be made by April 1.

Early Literacy Fair

Featuring a Sing-Along, Play-Along Concert with Jim Gill!

April 26, 10 AM - 3 PM at Merrillville Branch

At 2 PM, musician, author, and child development specialist Jim Gill will perform a special sing-along, play-along concert - don't miss it!

The Early Literacy Fair is sponsored by the LCPL Foundation. It's ideal for kids under 5 and parents or caregivers. Use the links below to let us know you're coming to the fair and/or the concert! (You do not have to attend the Fair to attend the concert.)

Ask a LibrarianQuestion: Does the library have any English classes?

Answer: Yes! We offer English as a Second Language classes at Merrillville Branch for adults or teens accompanied by an adult. There are three levels available. We don't test, so you can choose whichever level works best for you.

No-English Level - for learners who speak very little or no English.

Beginner Level - for learners who are ready for short conversations, some writing, grammar and reading in English.

Intermediate Level - for learners who are ready for more conversation, discussion, writing, grammar and reading in English.

The next ESL session will begin on Monday, April 21 and run for ten weeks, ending on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

You can sign up ahead of time or just walk in! It's recommended that you attend all ten weeks, but not mandatory. You can call 219-769-3541 ext. 337 with any questions.
