After eight years of outstanding performance and commitment to Legacy Foundation, Carolyn Saxton, President, and CEO, has announced her formal retirement from her role with the organization effective later this summer.
“It is with regret that we see our friend and our leader move on from Legacy Foundation while at the same time we wish Carolyn much joy and happiness as she prepares for the many blessing that come with retirement,” said Greg Gordon, Legacy Foundation Board Chair.
Carolyn has made the decision that it is time for her to begin the next chapter of her life and spend more time with her husband, children, and grandchildren and to enjoy the fruits of her labor and her approximately 40 years of service and dedication to the field of Non-Profits, Foundations, and to Philanthropy in general.
Carolyn is responsible for leading many of Legacy’s initiatives over the past 8 years including: Neighborhood Spotlight, On the Table, Fund, Program and Board Development programs and perhaps most importantly growing Legacy’s assets under management to approximately $90,000,000. These are funds used by Legacy and its donor base to provide critical and valuable resources to non-profit agencies and to the residents of NWI who are most in need. Carolyn has been instrumental in keeping focus on NWI’s underserved areas providing focus and attention to the most vulnerable in our community.
A succession plan, which was approved by the Board of Directors in 2017, will help guide the Foundation’s next steps. More information will follow in the weeks and months ahead while Legacy Foundation’s staff and Board of Directors prepare the Foundation for new leadership.
