Innovative Response Grants

Submit for an Innovative COVID-19 Response Grant of up to $50,000. Requests must focus on meeting the needs of communities and populations whose health and/or financial situations have been most severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and who have been historically marginalized and under-served in our country.

The “innovation” can be in the design, implementation, or outcome of your program/service. Some examples may include:

  • a change in your normal practice or approach to problem-solving
  • the implementation of a new system or partnership that helps you improve services or reach a new audience
  • the addition of a program or service that adds value to your clients or brings new information into the organization
  • replicating a program or service that has worked well in other locations

Do you have a bold solution for addressing disparities in service delivery that exist in communities of color?

Nonprofit Capacity Building Grants

Lake County foundations (Legacy Foundation, Crown Point Community Foundation, and Foundations of East Chicago) partner to build nonprofit capacity. Grants will cover the cost of plans for emergency preparedness or strategic restructuring, up to $5,000.

Grants for emergency preparedness are intended to assist organizations in being better equipped to work remotely, communicate with supporters digitally, or bring on consultants for preparedness assessments. Plans may be for natural disasters, health pandemics, active shooter training or another emergency.

Many nonprofits may be dealing with decreased revenue and be looking to merge or share parts of their operations, such as space or administrative functions, to reduce costs. The strategic restructuring grants are intended to support organizations as they assess, negotiate, design, and/or implement more effective and efficient programs and procedures.

Three deadlines to submit a capacity building grant:

  • July 20
  • August 10
  • August 31
