Dr. Carolyn Watson, music director of the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra, has been nominated for one of Australia’s prestigious “Advance Awards”.
The 2021 Advance Awards are presented in categories such as the arts, emerging leaders, education & research, life sciences, technology and social impact. Now in its 10th year, the Advance Awards celebrate the works of Australians who are making an extraordinary impact on the global stage.
“I am deeply honored and entirely humbled to be a finalist for the 2021 Advance Awards in the Arts category. It is testimony to the depth of talent and quality of Australian musical training that of the four finalists this year, two are conductors,” stated Dr. Watson.
“Carolyn has yet to conduct her first note as the LCSO’s Music Director. However, she has already given us a bit of fame on the world stage,” said Tim King, executive director of the LCSO. “Nomination for an Advance Award is indeed an honor and she is among some outstanding individuals making a difference around the globe. Needless to say, we are thrilled with this news and support her 100%!”
