
LCSO MUSIC DIRECTOR CAROLYN WATSON IN DEMAND WITH ALL-STATE ORCHESTRAS
La Porte, IN - Dr. Carolyn Watson, Music Director of the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra (LCSO) is keeping her conducting schedule filled with guest appearances this season. In addition to her duties as the LCSO’s Music Director and the Director of Orchestra Studies at the University of Kansas, she has guest conducted the Amarillo Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Austin (TX) Symphony, Lyric Opera of Kansas City and the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra as well as her long standing association with Interlochen.
Dr. Watson is also in demand as the guest conductor of several All-State Orchestras. This season alone, she has been asked to lead the following orchestras:
- 1/16/22 - Pacific Lutheran University Honors Orchestra (Tacoma, WA)
- 2/2/22 - Colorado All-State Orchestra
- 2/20/22 - Washington All-State Chamber Orchestra
- 4/9/22 - Nevada All-State
- 7/17/22: Interlochen Philharmonic
- “As folks in La Porte County are starting to realize, Carolyn is in demand around the country,” stated Tim King, LCSO Executive Director. “Carolyn’s commitment and passion for music education has resulted in these recent engagements. No doubt, there will be more in the future!”
Dr. Watson’s next engagement with the LCSO will be Sunday, March 13, 3:00 p.m. at the Holdcraft Performing Arts Center in Michigan City. Guest Cellist, Hannah Collins, will perform Tchaikovsky’s “Rococo Variations.” The LCSO will also perform the Overture to “La Forza Del Destino” by Verdi and Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony.
