La Porte County Symphony Orchestra Music Director, Dr. Carolyn Watson, has been invited to speak at the International Conductors Guild 2023 International Conductor Conference in Valencia, Spain, on January 12th. Dr. Watson will address an audience of conductors from around the world. The title of her presentation will be “Cracks in the Glass Ceiling: Women Conductors, New Trends, Old Challenges”. She will be joined by Dr. Danielle Lisboa, the Music Director of the Concordia University of Edmonton Orchestra.
Later this month, Tim King, Executive Director of the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra, has been invited to speak at the League of American Orchestra’s Winter Conference which is being held on January 29-30 in New York City. King will be presenting to his colleagues in Orchestras Level 7 & 8, those with budgets up to $700,000, the Orchestra’s “Music Forever” campaign which began at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. King will provide the Orchestra’s Case Statement to his colleagues as well as a timeline of the campaign which is coming to a successful close.
