Warning: read just one Jason Reynolds book and you'll be hooked! He's well known for his novels for kids and teens, but don't miss his poetry and nonfiction as well!

Question: What do you have at the library that can help me research property history in Lake County?
Answer: Start with these useful resources, which you can find in the Indiana Room or Genealogy Room at Merrillville Branch:
- US Federal Census
- City and Haines Directories
- Old Phone Books
- Plat Maps
- Newspapers on databases and microfilm
- Sanborn Fire Maps
The next step is a visit to the Lake County auditor's office web site. From 1840 into the 1970s, county auditors were required by Indiana law to maintain a set of plat maps showing ownership of all real property.
