
Lafayette District – Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas G. Carter has announced the promotion of Master Trooper Tyler Stinson to the rank of Detective. In his new role, Detective Stinson will serve as a detective with the Criminal Investigation Division at the Lafayette District. His promotion followed a competitive process that included a written test, an oral interview, and a comprehensive evaluation of his work performance.
Detective Stinson, a native of White County, Indiana, graduated from Frontier High School in 2004. He went on to attend Vincennes University, where he earned a degree in Conservation Law Enforcement in 2006.
In 2007, Stinson graduated from the 68th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was assigned to the Lafayette District. While at the Lafayette District, he primarily patrolled White County and served as a Field Training Officer, an Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor, and a Precision Intervention Technique (PIT) Instructor.
As a Detective, Stinson will be responsible for conducting criminal investigations throughout the district. His duties will include managing and processing crime scenes, interviewing witnesses, suspects, and assisting local law enforcement agencies with their investigations.
