The Lafayette District of the Indiana State Police is proud to welcome three new probationary troopers who recently graduated from the 86th Indiana State Police Academy on January 9, 2025. These troopers now begin their careers at the Lafayette District, starting with a three-month field training program. During this phase, they will ride alongside veteran troopers to apply the knowledge and skills they gained during their academy training.

Upon completing their field training, each trooper will be assigned a state police patrol vehicle and will begin solo patrol duties. These recruits have already completed over 1,200 hours of rigorous training, including instruction in criminal law, emergency vehicle operations, psychology, traffic law, crash investigation, self-defense, first response, and other critical aspects of law enforcement.

Trooper Tate Parker, originally from Dundee, Michigan, later moved to Toledo, Ohio, where he graduated from Whitmer High School in 2020. After high school, Parker attended Indiana State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology in 2024. He currently resides in White County.

Trooper Isaac Mounce is a native of Fountain County and a graduate of Attica Junior and Senior High School, where he completed his education in 2017. In 2022, Mounce began serving as a medic in the National Guard, where he remains on active duty. He currently resides in Tippecanoe County.

Trooper Colton McNeal is originally from Montpelier, Indiana, but later moved to Hawley, Texas, where he graduated from Hawley High School in 2019. Following graduation, McNeal joined the Army Reserves, where he serves as a Motor Transportation Specialist. He remains active in the Reserves and currently resides in Carroll County.

Lieutenant Tom McKee, Lafayette District Commander, expressed his enthusiasm for the new troopers, stating, “We are excited to welcome Troopers Parker, Mounce, and McNeal to the Lafayette District. Their dedication, training, and diverse backgrounds will be a tremendous asset to our community as they begin their careers protecting and serving the people of Indiana.”

The Indiana State Police is always looking for dedicated individuals interested in a career in law enforcement. For more information about becoming an Indiana State Trooper, visit www.indianatrooper.com, where you’ll find details on the application process and career opportunities.
