
Lowell Post- The Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, Doug Carter, recognized Sergeant Doug Parcel for achieving 30 years of service to the department and the citizens of Indiana.
Parcel is a native of Pulaski County, IN, and graduated from Winamac Community High School in 1987. Parcel then attended Vincennes University and obtained an associate degree in Law Enforcement in 1989. Parcel later went on to graduate from Calumet College of St. Joseph’s and received a bachelor’s degree in public safety management, in 2010.
In December of 1993, Parcel graduated from the 50th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was assigned to the Lowell District where he patrolled Newton and Jasper Counties. In 2000, Parcel was promoted to corporal and served as a district duty officer for the Lowell Post. In 2008, Parcel was promoted to sergeant and currently serves in that position as a district squad leader.
During Sergeant Parcel’s 30-year career, he has served as a grenadier on the Tactical Intervention Platoon. He has also been a Crash Reconstructionist, Field Training Officer, First Responder/First Aid Instructor and an Unarmed Response to an Active Shooter Incident Instructor.
Sergeant Parcel and his wife Michelle currently reside in Jasper County. They have a son, D.J., and daughter, Erika.
