Indiana State Police Lieutenant and Jasper County Resident Promoted to Captain

Indianapolis- The Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, Douglas G. Carter has announced the promotion of Lieutenant Terry Gose to the rank of Captain for Area II.  Captain Gose will serve as the Commander for Area II which comprises the Indiana State Police Districts in Bremen, Fort Wayne, and the Toll Road.  He will oversee the field operations for the enforcement personnel and command staff in those districts.

Captain Gose is a 28-year veteran of the department. Gose is a Merrillville native and graduated from Merrillville High School in 1984. He then went on to graduate from Purdue University in Lafayette with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering.

GoseCaptain Gose was accepted into the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and in June 1995 he was appointed as a Trooper and assigned to the Lowell Post where he patrolled Lake County for five years. He was then assigned as a Detective in the Gaming Division for one year. Gose was then promoted to the rank of Corporal to serve as the District Duty Officer until he was promoted again in 2003 as a Squad Sergeant.  In 2014, he was promoted to Lieutenant to serve as the District Commander at the Lowell Post.

During his career, Captain Gose has served as a field training officer and later as the field training officer coordinator at the Lowell Post, was on the tactical intervention platoon (now referred to as the mobile field force), and has extensive experience as a crash reconstructionist. Captain Gose was recognized as the Officer of the Year in 2013 by the District One Law Enforcement Council. He also was a recipient of the ISP Silver Star Award in 1999 which is given for a trooper’s performance in a distinguished manner beyond reasonable expectations by performing a deed of personal bravery.

Captain Gose resides in Jasper County with his family.
