Collaboraction Theatre Company announces The House of Belonging, an inclusive mash-up of Magic, Music and Ball Culture, Thursday, June 15, 6 to 10 p.m. at the Experimental Station, 6100 S. Blackstone Ave. in Chicago’s Hyde Park community.
Meet friends and spend a cool Thursday night at the Experimental Station, with its outdoor garden, open kitchen, cabaret stage and dance floor. Proceeds support Collaboraction’s mission of Social Change, including projects like The Light youth program, the next chapter for the Emmy Award-winning Trial in the Delta: The Murder of Emmett Till, and the company’s quest to find a new home.

Hip Hop with Pinqy Ring, a Puerto Rican rapper, author, speaker and Hip Hop educator, named Best Hip Hop Artist by the Chicago Reader in 2023.
Dance and Lecture by Darling Shear, the acclaimed Chicago dancer, choreographer, and creator of Back To Me, a highlight of Collaboraction’s 2020 PEACEBOOK Festival.
Magic by AJ Sacco, named Best Magician in Chicago by the Chicago Reader three years in a row, famous for his modern approach, charming demeanor and incredible skill set.
Vogueing with Dhee Lacy, digital creator, choreographer, and expert on the five elements of Vogue and its importance to Black history.
Music by DJ Oliver Fade, born in Jalisco, raised on Chicago’s South Side, a top spinner of Hip Hop and Chicago’s very own House music.
The House of Belonging is the first in a summer event series to support Collaboraction’s mission. Co-chairs are Dr. Marcus Robinson and Lonnie Edwards. Sponsors include AV Chicago and The Stillwell Institute for Contemporary Black Art.

Collaboraction is a 25-year-old, ethno-diverse company that uses theater and performance to incite social change on Chicago’s most critical issues. Collaboraction produces live and digital performances, anti-racism workshops, and youth programs that incite change and grow equity in Chicago.
Collaboraction’s work includes the Emmy Award-winning Trial in the Delta: The Murder of Emmet Till, SKETCHBOOK, PEACEBOOK, Moonset Sunrise, The Light Youth Ensemble, Crime Scene, Forgotten Future and Gender Breakdown. In addition to live performances, community building and video production, the company centers and presents its work in Chicago neighborhoods historically overlooked like Englewood, Austin and Lawndale.
Under the leadership of Artistic Director Anthony Moseley and Managing Director Carla Stillwell, Collaboraction has been honored for innovation and inclusivity with the Foster Innovation Award from Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, the Multi-Racial Unity Award from the First Unitarian Church-Chicago, a Stand For the Arts Award from Comcast and OvationTV, and an Otto Award from New York’s Castillo Theatre.
In 2022, Collaboraction was one of the first theaters in the U.S. to be certified by On Our Team, a national trade organization advocating for pay equity and transparency in the live theater industry.
