
The latest production starring on stage at The Goodman's Owen Theatre features a mix of emotions and a blend of tragic, comic and heartfelt situations.
"The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao," which is an English stage adaptation by Marco Antonio Rodriguez of Junot Diaz's novel, has been extended to April 12 at The Goodman.

Goodman's 'Oscar Wao" production revolves around title character Oscar and his Dominican-American family. Oscar, a college student, deals with struggling to find love, navigating the college scene, family issues and trying to understand a family curse that has been with them through the ages and ultimately leads to tragedy.
This production, which is directed by Wendy Mateo, stars Lenin Izquierdo, Kelvin Grullon, Julissa Calderon, Rossmery Almonte, Yolanda Florentino, Jalbelly Guzman and Arik Vega. Izquierdo offers an ideal Oscar as he infuses the role with humor and sincerity.The cast interacts well together.

Playwright Rodriguez said the play "is not just about a curse from the past - it's about the power we give our traumas, and how we can break free from them, through the power of love."
