Diane Christy Banks, a mother, grandmother, teacher, and retired hospital administrator who grew up in Hammond, graduated from Morton High School, received her MS Ed. from Indiana University and presently lives in Indianapolis with her little chocolate-brown Cockapoo, has published three books about Squirt, a sweet little puppy.

Squirt Gets a New Home: A Story about Being Adopted

Squirt Gets a New Home: A Story About Being AdoptedThe first book is titled, "Squirt Gets a New Home: A Story about Being Adopted": an uplifting and charmingly illustrated story for young readers.

This book tells the story of a sweet little puppy who needs a home. Nani and Papa have an empty home that needs to be filled with joy and love. "Squirt Gets a New Home" is the story of how they find one another and share comfort, security, and love.

On a deeper level, this story is also a tool for adoptive parents to begin to explain the adoption experience with preschoolers. The prevailing theme is that the adoption experience is based upon love at all levels. Farmer Friendly knows that his puppies need to be placed in loving homes to get the care they need to thrive.

Published by Page Publishing, Diane Christy Banks’s educational book is a delightful addition to any home- or school-based children’s library. Readers who wish to experience this engaging work can purchase “Squirt Gets a New Home: A Story about Being Adopted” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.

Squirt Goes on a Mission

Squirt Goes on a Mission: A Story About Being a HelperDiane Christy Banks’s second book “Squirt Goes on a Mission” is a charming celebration of the amazing jobs performed by canine helpers for their human companions.

“Squirt Goes on a Mission” tells the story of a little brown dog who volunteers in a hospital as a therapy dog. His mission is to spread unconditional love and help as many people as possible along the way. He also introduces us to his friends who also serve others in many ways.  Children who read this book will learn the values of unconditional and selfless love through the examples set by service dogs.

Squirt Goes for a Walk

Squirt Goes for a Walk: A Story About Being DifferentDiane Christy Banks’s third book “Squirt Goes for a Walk" helps parents teach preschoolers about the value of living in a diverse community.

Diane Christy Banks, who has been a lifelong learner and educator, has completed her new book “Squirt Goes for a Walk": a beautiful work illustrated by Donna Arnold that describes how when Squirt encounters a new dog he doesn’t know, he is afraid. But as soon as they get to know each other in a special way, they become friends. As Banks’ narrator, a pup named Squirt, remarks, “My friends are all different colors, shapes, and sizes because they come from many places all over the world. But they are all welcome here.”

Published by Page Publishing, Diane Christy Banks’s heartwarming story details how children recognize that differences bring a richness to our communities that we otherwise would not experience. This book opens a sorely needed dialogue with children about valuing differences in people and the benefit of appreciating differences. Since dogs are beloved by children and relatable to their everyday experience they can learn a lot from using them as examples of friendship. Readers who wish to experience this beautiful book can purchase “Squirt Goes for a Walk" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes Store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.
