
Alejandra Mosqueda “Space and Time,” opens at South Shore Arts satellite location Substation No. 9, 435 Fayette Street. Mosqueda is a recent graduate of Indiana University Northwest. Her exhibit “Space and Form” is an experimental body of work that explores form, color, and humanoid figures. Each piece creates a miniature universe or space, playing with the idea of coming in and out of existence.
Julie Miller will show a collection of work titled “Kaleidoscope,” at the Towle Theater, 5205 Hohman Ave, Hammond, IN. Miller’s work is Inspired by local surroundings in Northwest Indiana and travels to the mountains of California, the pieces in “Kaleidoscope” are whimsical explorations of landscapes. Miller was the first-place winner of the Denmark Memorial Award in South Shore Arts 80th Annual Salon Show this year.
Both Miller and Mosqueda’s artist receptions will take place from 6–7:30pm. Substation No.9 and the Towle Theatre share a parking lot in downtown Hammond, making for an easy walk to see both exhibits. The Towle Theatre will be kicking off its season with “The Story of My Life,” directed by Jeff Casey. The original Broadway Production was produced in 2009 by Chase Mishkin, Jack M. Dalgleish, Bud Martin, Carole L. Haber In association with Chunshoo Shin. “The Story of My Life,” starts at 8pm and tickets can be purchased online, www.Towletheater.org or by calling 219-937-8780.
