About New Life Centers
New Life Centers of Chicagoland (NLC) was established in 2005 to connect young people and their families with Christ and Community through restorative justice, safe spaces, and life-on-life relationships. Each of our programs was developed in response to the needs expressed by the communities we serve. Listening to our neighbors’ stories and requests, we work alongside community partners to create solutions that fit each neighborhood. Our core services include intensive mentoring, sports-based group mentoring, after-school and summer education programming, food provision, new arrival care, and restorative justice—including street outreach, juvenile justice advocacy, and resiliency services. NLC supports low-income families in five historically disinvested neighborhoods on the south and west sides of Chicago. These neighborhoods include Little Village (South Lawndale), Humboldt Park, Brighton Park, Pilsen, and Archer Heights (Midway).
About Cradles to Crayons®
1 in 2 children in Chicago are at risk of experiencing Clothing Insecurity—the lack of access to affordable, adequate, and appropriate clothing. And no government programs are dedicated to ensuring that children have the basics they need—such as clothing, diapers, or hygiene products. Since 2016, Cradles to Crayons® (C2C®) has stepped up to fill this need in Chicago. Founded in 2002, Cradles to Crayons® (C2C) provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with clothing and other essential items they need to thrive—at home, at school, and at play—for free. Cradles to Crayons® distributes new and high-quality used children’s goods free of charge through a network of more than 300 Service Partners. C2C sets a gold standard of individual, family, and corporate volunteer engagement, and through its “Giving Factories®” provides unique, hands-on opportunities to directly help local families. Headquartered in Boston, MA, C2C opened in Philadelphia in 2007, Chicago in 2016, and launched an innovative online platform, Giving Factory Direct (GFD), in 2020—which engages donors across the U.S., serving children in NYC and the San Francisco Bay area.
