South Shore Roller Derby, a local nonprofit dedicated to promoting athleticism, teamwork, and empowerment, is thrilled to announce its upcoming Golf Outing. Scheduled for June 10, 2024, at the picturesque Valparaiso Country Club, this event promises participants a day filled with fun, camaraderie, and the opportunity to swing for a significant cause.
This golf outing is designed to bring together golf enthusiasts and supporters of South Shore Roller Derby for a day on the greens that will include a shotgun start, 18 holes of golf in a scramble format, and several on-course games and challenges. Registration begins at 10:30am with the shotgun start at noon. Lunch will be served from 11am- noon. Following the day's play, participants will enjoy an awards ceremony, and a silent auction. Prizes will be awarded for various competitions, including longest drive, and closest to the pin.
All proceeds from the event will directly benefit South Shore Roller Derby. "With strong support from the community, we can break barriers, shatter stereotypes, and pave the way for equal opportunities in sports. This unity and backing propel us to reach greater heights, not just for ourselves, but for the advancement of female athletes everywhere,” said Ellen Kapitan, President of South Shore Roller Derby.
Registration for the event is now open, with options for individuals and teams to sign up. Sponsorship opportunities are also available, offering local businesses a chance to showcase their community support and gain visibility among an engaged and philanthropic audience.
