Chesterton Art Center (CAC) is hosting its quarterly free Family Art Day of 2023 on Saturday, October 21 from 10 AM to 2 PM CST. Kids and their favorite grown-ups are invited to participate anytime during those hours to tour the current exhibition and make art together. All ages are welcome and all materials are provided. With guidance from the CAC team, families will explore the Duneland Plein Air Painters group exhibition titled A Brush with Nature: Duneland Plein Air Adventures 2023 which showcases the work of local artists who create paintings “en plein air” (in the open air) and are inspired by nature and the beauty that surrounds us.
Visitors can then move into the classroom to create a series of projects inspired by the Duneland Plein Air Painters. Projects will include watercolor landscapes, mixed media nature scenes, and observational flower drawings. All supplies provided, and you may want to dress for a mess!
Chesterton Art Center’s free Family Art Days are an important initiative that works to tie together educational programming with CAC’s engaging exhibitions.
