The Footlight Players of Michigan City will bring to the stage the hilarious fairytale farce, HAPPILY, EVER AFTER written by Michigan City playwright, Robert W. Komendera, for two days only, on Saturday, July 24th at 7:30 and a Sunday matinee on July 25th at 2:00.
A troupe of 28 children ranging from the ages of 6-16 years of age have attended workshop sessions at the theater for two weeks learning acting and vocal techniques as well as choreography, costume coordination, stage etiquette, and stage presence.
The Michigan City Enrichment Corporation generously provided funding to help defray the cost of the workshop while donations from the 50/50 raffles that the organization hold during their main productions make up the remaining money needed to be able to offer this workshop free of charge to our community’s youth.
“It is imperative that all children be given the chance to attend these classes and our theater didn’t a fee to be a deterrent. Our organization’s purpose is to discover creative talent and develop skills in all phases of theater arts. This workshop is just one way for Footlight Players to attain that goal”, said Komendera, one of the instructors of the workshop. He is assisted by Lee Meyer, Janice Rice and Laura Meyer, each of the four having over 30 years of experience in community theatrical arts.
The participants and cast of the production are: Aspyn Beaty, Charlotte and Rory Bergerson, Samantha Best, Nora Brophy, Abigail, Charlotte, and Zachary Demsich, Maggie Evans, Alivia, and Sophia Filson, Tessa Glancy, Jude Gowan, Tatum Haynes, Mara Huneryager, Kristopher, and Maegan Jackson, Garrett Kelly, Chloey Landis, Madeline Marks, Sophia Meredith, Molly O’Brien, Ryan Otto, Zakaree Remson, Ella Rucinski, Jaren Swindell, Katelyn West, and Charlotte Wildfang.
The musical is open to the public and will be performed at the Footlight Theater in the heart of Michigan City at 1705 Franklin Street. Ticket prices are $15.00 and $10.00 for children 12 and under.
All previous performances of our youth workshop productions have been sold out so, reservations are strongly recommended. You can make a reservation one of three ways, by telephoning the theater at (219) 874-4035, going online at www.footlightplayers.org and clicking the “Reservations” box, or in person at our box office whenever the theater is open.
The Footlight Players are very proud of what these children have accomplished. I bet you will be too.
