
Chicago Fire FC completed a two-game homestand at Soldier Field on Saturday, May 29, when the Club hosted CF Montréal. Despite the Fire producing a 19-6 advantage in overall shots, including a game-tying header in extra time from defender Wyatt Omsberg that was ultimately ruled offside due to a subsequent video review, the Fire fell to Montréal 1-0.
Chicago (1-5-1, 4 points) is now heading into a three-week break due to the FIFA window and will return to league play on Saturday, June 19 against the Columbus Crew at Historic Crew Stadium. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT, the match will be broadcast live on WGN-TV, CFFC Live and TUDN 1200 AM.
During the FIFA window, defender Francisco Calvo will join the Costa Rica National Team for Concacaf Nations League matches. Costa Rica will face Mexico in the League A Semifinals on June 3 at 9:00 p.m. CT. The winner will advance to the semifinals and face off against either the United States or Honduras on June 6 at 8:00 p.m. CT. Los Ticos will then face the United States in a friendly match at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah on June 9 at 6:00 p.m. CT.
Midfielder Przemysław Frankowski has been called up to the Poland National Team for a training camp in Opalenica, Poland, ahead of EURO 2020. Frankowski and Poland are in Group E of EURO 2020 along with Slovakia, Spain and Sweden. Poland will begin their EURO 2020 campaign on June 14 at 11:00 a.m. CT against Slovakia, before taking on Spain on June 19 at 2:00 p.m. CT and will play the final match of group play against Sweden on June 23 at 11:00 a.m. CT.
Midfielder Gastón Giménez has been called up to represent Paraguay for a pair of CONMEBOL 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches. Paraguay is scheduled to play Uruguay on June 3 at 5:00 p.m. CT and Brazil on June 8 at 7:30 p.m. CT. Paraguay currently sits in fourth place in the CONMEBOL standings with six points through four matches played.
All three players will return to Chicago following international play.
