Chicago Fire FC will return to Soldier Field to begin a two-game homestand on Saturday, May 22, taking on second-year club Inter Miami CF in a nationally-televised contest. Beginning at 5:00 p.m. CT, the match will be broadcast live on UniMás, TUDN, Twitter (English audio) and WOJO 105.1FM HD-3.
Saturday’s match marks the first-ever meeting between the two sides. The Fire (0-4-1, 1 point) enter the game coming off a narrow 1-0 defeat to D.C. United at Audi Field on May 13. Two Fire Homegrown Players made their MLS debuts in the match. Midfielder Brian Gutiérrez became the youngest Homegrown Player and third-youngest overall player (17 years, 331 days) in Club history to start in an MLS match for the Fire. Additionally, midfielder Javier Casas Jr., who entered the match at the start of the second half, became the second-youngest Homegrown Player and fourth-youngest overall player (17 years, 364 days) in Club history to appear in an MLS match for Chicago.
Led by first year head coach Phil Neville, Inter Miami (2-2-2, 8 points) beat FC Cincinnati today, 3-2, on the road. Miami designated player Gonzalo Higuain scored a brace, including the late winner three minutes after Nick Hagglund’s dramatic equalizer, spoiling the party at the eagerly anticipated opening of TQL Stadium.
Tickets for the match against Inter Miami and the Club’s following home game on May 29 (CF Montreal, 12:00 p.m. CT) are currently on sale.
