Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) is hosting its free First Friday on Friday, February 7, from 5-8 p.m. CST.

For February's First Friday, LCA invites the public to join them for the opening reception of two new local artists' exhibits, along with an artist talk starting at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to enjoy an evening featuring spectacular art, hors d'oeuvres, and a cash bar.

On display in LCA's lobby, local artist Sharon Meyers is displaying her ceramics and photographs, while Paij Rhymes' "Fragments" will be presented in the NIPSCO Art Education Studios.

Sharon Meyers' "Listening to Clay" showcases ceramics and photographs inspired by her artist residency in Kyoto, Japan, reflecting her journey of living and learning through clay.

"Fragments" features the colorful and dynamic abstract paintings of Paij Rhymes. Rhymes has been creating art for about three years, with experience in various mediums ranging from photography and poetry to painting. Paij is also a former young artist featured in the annual Lindsey O'Brien Kesling Young Artists Expo at LCA, and has gained experience through volunteer work with the Marshall Gardner Center for the Arts and the NAACP.

LCA's free First Friday cultural programs take place on the first Friday of each month from 5-8 p.m. CST. The annual schedule includes everything from exhibition openings to live music and dance performances. All events are free and provide complimentary nibbles and a cash bar.

For more information, contact Jessie Sexton, LCA’s marketing manager, at (219) 874-4900 or jsexton@LubeznikCenter.org.
