Don’t miss out on this art-filled day fun for the whole family!
The Center for Visual and Performing Arts and South Shore Arts is thrilled to bring back the popular Family Arts Fest, Sunday, May 7, from 10-4pm. Don’t miss out on this art-filled day fun for the whole family celebrating music, dance, culinary arts, fine arts and more!

In the art studios, all ages are invited to participate in a series of fun art workshops. Play with clay, make suncatchers and be a part of our community art project.
In the ballroom, several performances will take place! Watch demonstrations by the Indiana Ballet Theater, South Shore Dance Alliance, and the Youth Orchestra. Chef Joe Trama will be participating in culinary arts demonstrations and will have a special selection of food for sale.
Downstairs in the Orchestra Practice Room, visit Rockapelli and make your own music! Rockapelli will have a variety of real instruments on hand for kids and adults to learn about and try.
In the galleries, check out the work from over 800 junior and senior high school students in the Main Gallery exhibit, 49th Annual Tri-County Exhibition. In the Atrium Gallery see the beautiful work of Ann Latinovich in her solo exhibit “Efflorescence.” Check out the art from the South Shore Art’s Hammond Scholarship program in the Meeting Room. Additionally, the Diversified Art Visionaries, or DAVe, will host an exhibition that will include several local artists and interactive printmaking demonstrations.
Theatre at the Center will be hosting a hat display and several short performances by the talented Jeannie Rapstad. The Fest will end with a concert by the Youth Symphony Orchestra in the theatre.
Throughout the day, find out about all the different arts organizations in Northwest Indiana. With face painting, ice carving, and balloon animal activities, this day full of art entertainment and opportunities will be fun for the whole family!
Family Arts Fest will take place at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana, 46321.
