Earlier in December, the Munster Police Department held their fall semester Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) graduation ceremonies at St. Thomas More School and St. Paul’s Lutheran School.
The programs were held in honor of the students’ completion of the 10-week core curriculum which provides lessons on drug prevention, bullying prevention, managing stress, using help networks, and making safe and healthy choices.
Each of the fifth graders received certificates during the ceremonies which were attended by their parents. In addition, a number of students were honored for writing the best D.A.R.E. essays or for receiving the Daren Award for outstanding participation and behavior during the course of the program. A student from each school was also randomly selected to take home a Daren the Lion stuffed animal as a prize. The award winners are pictured.
