Dunes Learning Center will host a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification course on March 31 through April 4, 2025 in partnership with Wilderness Medical Associates International (WMA). This course provides essential emergency training in wilderness medicine, leadership, and critical thinking in outdoor, low-resource, and remote environments. Professional guides, trip leaders, and rescue operatives are encouraged to attend as well as outdoor recreation enthusiasts.
“The Wilderness First Responder certification is the gold standard in the industry,” says Heather Hahn Sullivan, Executive Director of Dunes Learning Center. “We are pleased that WMA has chosen to hold their course in the dunes for the second year in a row, and we hope the community takes advantage of this opportunity to develop these critical emergency skills that could save lives.”
Attendees should expect lectures, hands-on skills practice, patient simulations, and a final test during the five day in-person training course. Early registration is encouraged in order to complete the interactive online segment of the course. Meals are included in the program fee, and lodging options are available.
