Art Barn School of Arts wishes to recognize the support of foundations, businesses and individuals who contributed funds to help us replace our deteriorating roof. "These gifts go a long way to help us protect one of our most valued assets - our century-old barn," states executive director, Amy Davis Navardauskas.
The capital campaign began in Spring of 2019 and wrapped up at year-end in 2020. The majority of funds were donated by Porter County Community Foundation and an anonymous foundation, as well as gifts from our 2019 year-end fundraising initiative and our “Raise the Roof Barn Sale” also in 2019. Our contractor, J&B West Construction, Inc., began construction in Fall 2020 and completed the last of the details at the beginning of 2021.

The Art Barn School of Art operations are supported by the generosity of individual donors, foundations and corporations. These gifts help us sustain the vision of our late founder, Jan Sullivan, who believed that anyone could be an artist given the environment and tools provided. Sullivan, dedicated herself to fostering the love of art and with this new metal roof Art Barn can continue to provide a warm, safe and welcoming environment which has become a place of exploration, inspiration and growth for so many.
Art Barn extends sincere thanks to the following businesses, organizations and individuals who made leadership level gifts during the capital campaign in support of the roof project: Porter County Community Foundation, Anonymous, J&B West Roofing, Sandy Appleby and Jean L. Bargeron. Other significant donations were made by Andrew & Susan Arnold, and the Peter C. & Charlene J Kesling Foundation. Other supporters include: Terry & Roland Albrecht, Lorie Butler, Gary & Susan Connors, Amy Davis Navardauskas, Judy Davis & Gene Zollman, Julia Holmaas & James May, Charles & Denise Kirkland, Roy Krizek & Jim Ruge, Alice Moss, Susan Zahller. Twenty-two additional individuals made contributions in support of the campaign. “Every gift made a difference in bringing this project to fruition and we appreciate each and every one”, states Navarduaskas.
Additionally, Art Barn was thrilled to be highlighted in the Porter County Community Foundation’s most recent Tuba Tuesday video released on June 15. The video segments highlight area nonprofits which have benefitted from grant funding from the Porter County Community Fund. The video can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqutkA-RoDU.
