On December 14th, the Munster Police Department and the Munster Junior Woman's Club worked together to hold this year's Cops & Kids/Heroes & Helpers shopping event at Target in Munster. During this memorable event each year, pre-selected children are taken shopping by our volunteers for toys or clothing with funds that have been donated from throughout the community. This year, approximately 80 children representing 30 families went shopping with our volunteers, which made this our largest holiday shopping event ever.
In addition to shopping, each family was provided with a gift certificate for a turkey and meal certificates from McDonald's in Munster. Target also provided goody bags for each of the participating children which were passed out by the Munster Junior Woman's Club members after they finished shopping.
In addition to the large number of residents who provided generous donations, our business and community organization sponsors included Target, the Munster Junior Woman's Club, Leung Family Dental, Barbara Shaver-Attorney at Law, McDonald's in Munster, K&M Heating & Cooling, Friends of Munster - Highland Tri Kappa Epsilon Omicron Chapter, the Munster Historical Society, and the Munster Mustangs Hockey Team.
