Community Healthcare System’s Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center is among the best physical rehabilitation centers in the country, receiving the distinction of No. 2 in Indiana. The rating comes from Newsweek and Statista Inc., an industry ranking provider.

“We are honored to receive this acknowledgement that Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center is among the best in the country,” said Donald P. Fesko, CEO of Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana, Inc., parent company of Community Healthcare System. “This validates the staff’s commitment to providing quality care to patients.”

The America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2023 list highlights top physical rehabilitation centers from all U.S. states. The nation’s top inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRFs) were identified based on the following data sources:

  • National Online Survey: Thousands of medical experts (physicians, therapists, medical doctors, administration and staff working in physical rehabilitation facilities) were invited to an online peer-to-peer survey.
  • Quality Score: Participants also were asked to rank the quality of care, quality of service, quality of follow-up care, and accommodations and amenities. Data published by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) was taken into consideration.
  • Accreditation: Data on physical rehabilitation centers provided by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and the Model Systems Knowledge Translation Center (MSKTC) were taken into consideration.

Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center, 10215 Broadway, is a four-story, 129,000-square-foot multispecialty hospital that includes a 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.

The hospital offers inpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy rehabilitation, learning skill spaces and therapy gyms. State-of-the-art rehabilitation technology and equipment at the facility includes the Biodex Balance System™ and the ZeroG® Gait and Balance System to maximize patients’ recovery.

“We pair the most advanced technology with the most talented, caring and dedicated staff,” said Craig Bolda, Administrator of Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center and Vice President of Acute Rehabilitation Services for Community Healthcare System. “The positive results we see from patients recovering from a stroke, neurological conditions or joint replacement here are astonishing.”

Along with its inpatient rehabilitation unit, the center offers an array of services, such as outpatient physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy, diagnostic imaging, a women’s diagnostic center, diagnostic cardiology and physician offices.
