CINDERELLA BALLET FINAL PERFORMANCE WEEKEND

Fri, 05/21/2021 - 4:43pm by laughingcat

Indiana Ballet Theatre (IBT) Company is wrapping up its Cinderella ballet production, with three final shows at the Hoosier Theatre in Whiting, IN on May 22-23. The comedic performance, with a cast of more than 75, has already performed three shows to sold out venues this month at Crown Point’s Hall of Justice, Munster’s Centennial Park Ballroom, and will take the stage for three final performances this Saturday and Sunday.

“We are grateful to have been given the opportunity to perform at such amazing venues,” said Amanda Tuohy, IBT Associate Artistic Director. “We were in the heart of our lovely hometown (Crown Point) and loved the beautiful scenic ballroom surrounded by a lake in Munster, and especially for the dancers...a historic, live theater,” she added. Tuohy says the dancers have missed performing on stage since all shows were canceled last year, due to the pandemic.

Tuohy said IBT implemented safety measures during rehearsals by wearing masks, and continues to follow guidelines during all performances. In fact, auditions this year were limited to IBT members only this year and the cast was reduced from its typical spring ballet cast of 145 to 76.

Cinderella was IBT's first full-length ballet, with their first performance at Merrillville’s former Star Plaza Theatre, more than 20 years ago. Set in the 13th Century, with period costuming, Cinderella delivers a most delightful pantomime ballet for the entire family. The production is full of humor and romance as Cinderella transforms from rags to riches guided by her Fairy Godmother. From grade schoolers to adults, Cinderella touts a cast of pre-professional and professional dancers, including Zane Winders from Oklahoma City Ballet, as Prince Charming. Complete with wonderfully spirited costumes, and an array of magical moments, the cast talent and dedication bring this mesmerizing production to life.

Cinderella will take the stage at the Hoosier Theatre Saturday, May 22 at 2:30pm and 7:30pm and Sunday, May 23 at 2:30pm. Tickets are available online at IBTNW.ORG/EVENTS or call IBT’s Main Office at 219.755.4444. Covid restrictions may apply per venue guidelines.
