Gov. Eric J. Holcomb announced today he has selected Bob Grennes, current Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR), as DOR’s Commissioner. Grennes will start this new position on Feb. 1, 2020.
Since joining DOR in 2017, Grennes has worked to improve agency operations, ensure all customers receive best-in-class service and joined forces alongside Commissioner Adam Krupp to drastically improve the culture of the organization.
In 2019, DOR was recognized as one of the IndyStar’s Top Workplaces, which is awarded to top performing organizations based on analytics from an anonymous employee survey on workplace culture. Grennes was a huge driver in ensuring DOR took the steps to not only be considered for this award, but to actually earn it.
When asked about this appointment, Gov. Holcomb stated, “Bob is a hard-working public servant who has taken his private sector experiences and leveraged them to improve our state. I’m confident that under his direction the Department of Revenue will continue to ensure that Hoosiers receive great government service at a great value.”
In addition to his tenure working for DOR, Bob has experience in the private sector leading information technology departments, financial services business operations divisions and organizational development and modernization initiatives, in high-volume and high-complexity businesses.
“Over the last three years, I have had the pleasure of working alongside Commissioner Krupp and our leadership team to continuously find innovative ways to improve our overall organization—systems, processes and culture—in order to provide best-in-class customer service to our fellow Hoosiers,” said Grennes. “All of us at DOR care deeply about the important work we do and services we provide. I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to continue to serve with my DOR colleagues and be part of the exciting future we are building together.”
