Central to the Ruth Page Center for the Arts’ performance schedule is its annual presentation of “Ruth Page’s The Nutcracker,” the popular recreation of the beloved holiday classic. Originally presented at the Arie Crown Theater from 1965 to 1997, the current production recreates Ruth Page’s original full-length staging. Featuring a cast of international guest artists alongside an elite company, stunning costumes and magical settings in the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets, these performances promise world-class entertainment and holiday joy for children of all ages. The 2022 production of “Ruth Page’s The Nutcracker” also features the talented students of the Ruth Page School of Dance, as young as 7 years old, in keeping with Ruth Page’s emphasis on children’s involvement in the production. Additionally cast are three students from the Keystone Dance Academy, Ruth Page Center’s after-school dance training program at Wentworth Elementary School in Englewood.

About the Ruth Page Civic Ballet Training Company

The Ruth Page Civic Ballet Training Company was established to continue developing serious young dancers ages 17-25 years with advanced training and performance experience as a prelude to a professional career in dance. Dancers are invited to take part in the Training Company by its Artistic Director Victor Alexander, who will guide and mentor each aspiring young artist alongside Associate Director Dolores Long and Artistic Associate Maray Gutierrez. Through focused daily training, company members will refine their ballet and contemporary techniques in an international environment of performers and educators, with the opportunity to travel to Ruth Page’s International Sister Schools in Cuba, Italy and Spain. The Training Company dancers are joined in performances by notable guest artists and choreographers, expanding their sphere of professional work.
