
This week, Chicago Fire FC will look to win a second straight game versus FC Cincinnati, this time on the road at Nippert Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 2. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT, the match will be broadcast live on WGN-TV and ESPN+ and transmitted locally in Spanish on TUDN 1200AM. The pregame show, presented by CIBC, will begin at 6:15 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
Wednesday’s match marks the second meeting between the Fire (2-5-1, 7 points) and FC Cincinnati (2-4-2, 8 points) this season. Both teams recently met in the Fire’s 2020 home opener on Aug. 25, with Chicago defeating the second-year club 3-0 in its first game back at Soldier Field in 15 years.
In three games played against Cincinnati since 2019, the Fire have tallied a 1-1-1 record, including two straight games without a loss. FC Cincinnati enters Tuesday’s match coming off a 0-0 draw with its rival Columbus Crew SC at Nippert Stadium on Saturday.
Four days after the road match against FC Cincinnati, the Fire will play its second home game in 2020, taking on the New England Revolution at Soldier Field on Sunday, Sept. 6. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT, Sunday’s match will be broadcast live on WGN-TV and ESPN+ and transmitted locally in Spanish on 105.1 WOJO-HD2. The pregame show, presented by CIBC, will begin at 6:15 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
The Revolution (2-1-5, 11 points) enter Sunday’s contest unbeaten in their last three regular season games. Prior to facing the Fire, New England will host New York City FC at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 2. Chicago and New England previously battled to a 1-1 draw at Gillette Stadium on March 7. Defender Jonathan Bornstein scored the game-tying goal for the Fire in the 70th minute of that match. The Fire lead the all-time head-to-head regular season series against New England with a 27-22-14 record.
Media Access
The Chicago Fire FC Communications department will permit a select number of written press, photographers and non-rights holders to attend matches at Soldier Field. Media members will be grouped in Tier 3 and will not have access to any Tier 1 or Tier 2 individuals, including players, coaches, referees, team medical staff and select Club and venue personnel.
Media members who were previously approved for season credentials must send an email to Elizabeth Sanchez (esanchez@chicagofirefc.com) to confirm their attendance for each match. Additionally, the Club is currently accepting select applications for single-game credentials here . Single-game credentials will be made available at Media Will Call on the day of the game. The application for single-game credentials will close 48 hours prior to the match. No new credentials will be issued at the venue.
