CHICAGO FIRE TO FACE D.C. UNITED ON SATURDAY NIGHT

Chicago Fire FC plays their lone away match of the month on Saturday night against Eastern Conference foe, D.C. United. This weekend will mark the 70th time these two historic clubs meet in the regular season, with Chicago holding a record of 23-26-20 since the 1998 season. The Fire will head to Audi Field on May 25 for their seventh trip to D.C.’s new venue since its opening in 2018.

The last time these two sides met, Chicago fell to D.C. United, 4-0, on the road on Sept. 9, 2023. Prior to that match, the Fire had been undefeated against D.C. dating back to the start of the 2022 season, after sweeping the season series with two clean sheet victories and recording a scoreless draw in their first matchup in 2023. This weekend will mark the first of two matches between Chicago and D.C. in 2024.

Kickoff for Saturday’s match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT. The contest will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and will also be transmitted locally on wlsam.com (English) and WRTO 1200 AM (Spanish).

BY THE NUMBERS

1 – Defender Carlos Terán recorded his first goal of the season, and the fourth of his Chicago Fire career, in the team's most recent match. It also marked his fourth consecutive season with a goal. In addition, forward Georgios Koutsias recorded his first assist of the season, and the third of his young career.

70 – With Saturday marking the 70th all-time matchup between D.C. and Chicago, the Fire will have faced an MLS opponent in the regular season 70+ times for just the third time in Club history. The Fire have only played the Columbus Crew (77) and the New England Revolution (73) more times in Club history.

96 – Chicago Fire FC currently has a total of 96 goals in regular season play against D.C. United. Once the Fire records four more goals against D.C., it would be just the third time in Club history that Chicago scores 100+ goals against one opponent in regular season play (New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls are the other two opponents).
