Chicago Fire FC will join much of Major League Soccer in observance of FIFA’s ongoing October International Window.
The Men in Red will enjoy a break coming off a shutout victory over Charlotte FC last Saturday in North Carolina. Following a strong but scoreless first half, the Fire broke through in the 58th minute. Philip Zinckernagel sent a corner kick from the left side into the box that found Jack Elliott after an attempted clearance. The ball then fell to the top of the six-yard box where Gómez didn’t hesitate to strike, sending it through traffic just inside the right post for his first goal with Chicago. Elliott and the defense held the hosts to only two shots on target, posting a clean sheet that helped the Fire remain in fifth place in the East with a game in hand.
Chicago will return to Soldier Field immediately following the break for a make-up game against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast globally on Apple TV and transmitted locally on wlsam.com in English, and TUDN Chicago 106.7-HD2 and the Uforia by TREBEL app in Spanish.
