Chicago Fire FC players visited with patients at Lurie Children’s Hospital on Thursday in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Wyatt Omsberg, Miguel Navarro, Fabian Herbers and Rafael Czichos spent the afternoon playing games, doing arts and crafts and exchanging gifts with children currently battling cancer as part of the MLS’s 9th Annual Kick Childhood Cancer campaign.
This Saturday, September 10, the Fire will host their Kick Childhood Cancer match as they take on Inter Miami CF at SeatGeek Stadium at 7:00 p.m. CT. The first 10,000 fans will receive limited edition yellow foam handle flags in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Ahead of kickoff, 11 children currently battling cancer or in remission will take part in a ceremonial kickoff, joined by the starting lineups of the Fire and Miami, where the children will pass the ball amongst each other and score in the goal as the honorary “first goal” of the match.
Tickets to the match are available here and the contest will also be televised on WGN-TV and CF97 Live, and transmitted locally in Spanish on TUDN 1200 AM.
