U.S. Soccer and Chicago Fire FC today announced that Chicago Fire FC II will face Indy Eleven in the Third Round of the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT on Wednesday, April 17, at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview.
Chicago and the other winners of the Second Round will all face off against USL Championship teams (Division II) in the Third Round of the historic competition. Admission for the match will be $10 for the general public and $5 for Chicago Fire Season Ticket Members. Information on how to purchase tickets will be available in the coming days.
Broadcasts of all matches will continue to be streamed live on usopencup.com, mlssoccer.com, and uslsoccer.com during the Third Round as well as the Rounds of 32 and 16. Chicago advanced to the Third Round of the 2024 edition of the tournament with a 2-0 win against USL League One side Forward Madison FC. Captain David Poreba scored his second goal of the tournament, and 2024 MLS SuperDraft pick Jason Shokalook tallied his first goal for Fire II.
Chicago Fire FC II began play in 2022 and serves as a bridge between the Chicago Fire Academy and the First Team. Led by Head Coach Ludovic Taillandier and assistant coach, former Fire forward Patrick Nyarko, Chicago Fire FC II provides a platform for the Fire’s rising talent to compete at the professional level.
The Chicago Fire has a rich history of success in the U.S. Open Cup. The Fire’s four U.S. Open Cup championships (1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006) remains tied for the most Open Cup titles by an MLS team.
