Chicago Fire FC will travel to face CF Montréal on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Saputo Stadium before returning to Soldier Field to host Charlotte FC on Saturday, Sept. 17, presented by motorola edge. The two matches close out a second-straight stretch of three games in eight days for the Fire, who defeated Inter Miami CF 3-1 at SeatGeek Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 10.
Kickoff for the second encounter of the season with CF Montréal is set for 6:30 p.m. CT, and will be broadcast live on WGN-TV and CF97 Live and transmitted locally in Spanish on TUDN 1200AM.
Chicago (9-13-8, 35 points) heads into the match against the Canadian side coming off a victory against Inter Miami with two goals from 18-year-old forward Jhon Durán and a goal from Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri. With the brace, Durán became just the sixth player in MLS history to register multiple multi-goal games in a single season at age 18 or younger. His previous two-goal game was a 2-0 win against Toronto FC at Soldier Field on July 13, 2022.
Montréal (16-9-5, 53 points) is currently in second place in the Eastern Conference and clinched a berth in the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs with a come-from-behind 2-2 tie with the Columbus Crew on Friday, Sept. 9 at Saputo Stadium.
Following the match against Montréal, Chicago will return to Soldier Field to face Charlotte FC at 7:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 17. Chicago will celebrate the Club’s annual Hispanic Heritage Night against Charlotte, and the match will be broadcast live on WGN-TV and CF97 Live and transmitted locally in Spanish on TUDN 1200AM. Flags from various Latin American countries will be displayed throughout the stadium as fans in attendance enjoy performances from a salsa band and salsa dancers. Cafe Tola food truck will also be serving empanadas in Burnham Downs tailgate ahead of the match.
Fans are encouraged to arrive to the stadium early as the first 5,000 attendees will receive special Calavera bobbleheads. The Club will also be selling exclusive Hispanic Heritage Month merchandise, including a scarf and crew neck, all designed in-house through Second Star Creative.
At halftime of the match, the Club will recognize three local community heroes for their extraordinary work in the Hispanic community. The honorees will receive a signed jersey, field side seating and be recognized with a spotlight video during halftime. Tickets to attend the match can be purchased by clicking here.
Charlotte (11-17-2, 35 points) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 1-0 win against New York City FC at Bank of America Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 10. Charlotte forward Daniel Ríos scored the team’s lone goal in the fifth minute, and the Carolina side went down to 10 men in the 56th minute when defender Christian Books was ejected with a straight red card for violent conduct. Charlotte held on for the remainder of the second half to secure three points and a shutout.
