Chesterton Art Center’s (CAC) summer exhibition “Impresiones: Prints by Ramiro Rodriguez” opens on Thursday, September 4, 2025. “Impresiones” is a solo exhibition showcasing fourteen years of work by Ramiro Rodriguez, featuring multiple series of monotypes, monoprints, and linoleum relief prints. Rooted in personal experience, these powerful works reflect on immigration journeys, Mexican culture and folklore, and family history. With clarity and depth, Rodriguez invites viewers into narratives that are at once intimate and widely resonant, offering timely reflections on identity, resilience, and belonging.
In connection with “Impresiones,” CAC is offering a special printmaking workshop with Ramiro Rodriguez on Saturday, October 18, 9 AM–12 PM. In this introductory workshop experience, students will explore monotype printmaking and use the press to create unique prints using inks, stencils, and various mark making tools. All skill levels are welcome to register for this one-time opportunity to work with Rodriguez. To register for the workshop, visit www.ChestertonArt.org/adult-classes-and-workshops/p/monotype-workshop
“We are thrilled to welcome Ramiro Rodriguez to Chesterton Art Center for ‘Impresiones,’” says CAC Executive Director Hannah Hammond-Hagman. “His work tells powerful stories of migration, identity, and heritage that highlight Rodriguez’s masterful printmaking and invite visitors to reflect on themes of belonging and cultural connection that are both timeless and timely.”
A Third Friday Artist Reception for “Impresiones” will be held on Friday, September 19, 4–7 PM, and CAC will host an artist talk with Ramiro Rodriguez on Thursday, October 9, 5:30–7 PM. All exhibition events at CAC are free and open to the public. “Impresiones” coincides with CAC’s next Family Art Day on Saturday, October 11, 10 AM–2 PM. Family Art Days are free events for the entire family, but we request that participants register in advance at wwww.ChestertonArt.org/youth-and-teen-classes.
“Impresiones” can be viewed during CAC’s normal business hours: Mon–Fri, 11 AM–4 PM + Sat, 11 AM–2 PM. CAC is closed on Sundays. For more information about CAC and CAC exhibitions, please visit www.ChestertonArt.org or call (219) 926-4711.
