Site/Sight: Works from the Artist-in-Residence Program of the Indiana Dunes National Park

Chesterton Art Center (CAC) is pleased to announce our next exhibit, “Site/Sight: Works from the Artist-in-Residence Program of the Indiana Dunes National Park,” June 4–August 1, 2026. Visitors are invited to view this celebration of the natural world that surrounds us as seen through the eyes of these artist visitors working across many different media. In conjunction with the exhibition, CAC will host an artist panel on Thursday, June 18, from 6:30–8 PM and a Third Friday Artists’ Reception on Friday, July 17, from 4–7 PM.

"We are absolutely thrilled to continue this partnership with the Indiana Dunes National Park," said Hannah Hammond-Hagman, CAC Executive Director. "Every time I have the opportunity to select works from the Indiana Dunes National Park collection to display in our gallery, I'm reminded of just how special this artist-in-residence program is and how lucky we all are to have the Indiana Dunes as our backyard."

The Indiana Dunes National Park Artist-in-Residence program has been sharing the park’s inspirational landscape for over 25 years and has served more than 100 artists to date. This exhibit is a survey of works held in the National Park collection, including works from 2023–2025 that have not yet been exhibited publicly.

“The Artists in Residence program at Indiana Dunes offers professional artists the opportunity to be in the park and create art that helps generate appreciation and support for the national park. In exchange, the artist provides public engagement and donates a piece of art created during their stay,” said Jeff Manuszak, Visual Information Specialist with Indiana Dunes National Park. “We are excited to showcase these pieces at Chesterton Art Center. It’s just a great fit!”

CAC exhibitions and related programming are free and open to the public. Exhibitions can be viewed during normal business hours: Mon–Fri, 11 AM–4 PM and Sat, 10 AM–2 PM. CAC is closed on Sundays. CAC is located at 115 South 4th Street, Chesterton. For more information about exhibitions and all CAC programs, visit www.ChestertonArt.org.

“Site/Sight” is made possible in partnership with Indiana Dunes National Park and is generously supported by Friends of Indiana Dunes.
