CHESTERTON ART CENTER ANNOUNCES TWO APRIL EXHIBITIONS

Seasons: CAC Youth Art Exhibition
Exhibition (Lower Gallery): April 1–28
Reception:  April 15, 12–2 PM

Chesterton Art Center is pleased to announce the return of two annual exhibitions in April, titled Fiber Art ’23 by Duneland Weavers’ Guild and Seasons, the CAC Youth Art Exhibition.

Fiber Art ’23: The Duneland Weavers’ Guild will be showcasing their work April 1-28 at Chesterton Art Gallery, in the front (upper) gallery space. An opening reception featuring the artists, items for sale, and prize drawings will be held on April 2, from 1-4 PM, with a style show at 2 PM.

The talented artists of the Guild have been busy creating original handwoven and knitted shawls, scarves, linens, wall hangings and more. You can purchase items on-site at the Art Center during the exhibition.

Weaving is a lively art in Northwest Indiana. The Duneland Weavers’ Guild has met monthly for more than seventy years, September through May. Current fiber artists, or those wishing to learn weaving are invited to join the Guild. Meetings are held via Zoom or in person at Three Moons Fiberworks in Chesterton. Visit dunelandweaversguild.org for details on membership and meetings.

Seasons is the CAC Youth Art Exhibition, also running April 1–28 in the lower gallery space. An opening reception celebrating our young artists and their work is scheduled for April 15, from 12-2 PM.

CAC’s Afterschool Art youth classes explore a new modern art movement each month from September-May, beginning with American Realism and moving through the western art history timeline to Pop Art. During each monthly session, students learn about art history and modern artists, work with a variety of media, and gain new fundamental skills. This exhibition is a culmination of the efforts of instructor Ms. Jen Aitchison and the talented artists in the program that studied with her from September 2022 to April 2023.
