Get ready to boogie down and glam it up as the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus (CGMC) proudly presents their much-anticipated live-singing drag show, "Lipstick & Lyrics: Those Flashy Sassy '70s." This glittering celebration of the decade of disco, funk, and fabulousness will take place March 1, 7, and 8, 2025, with two electrifying performances each evening at 7 PM and 9 PM.

Held in an intimate theatre setting of the Hoover-Leppen Theatre at the Center on Halsted, "Lipstick & Lyrics" will feature a sensational lineup of talented CGMC performers delivering iconic hits of the '70s. Picture it…live vocals, dazzling costumes, and over-the-top drag flair. From the sparkle of sequins to the thump of classic disco beats, this show promises a fabulous evening of show-stopping entertainment.

“This year’s Lipstick & Lyrics is all about channeling the bold, fun-loving energy of the 1970s,” said James Morehead, Artistic Director of CGMC and the show’s director. “With unforgettable songs, incredible costumes, and plenty of humor, this show is a celebration of self-expression and the sheer joy that music can bring. I can’t wait for audiences to experience the magic our performers are creating.”

CGMC’s annual "Lipstick & Lyrics" performances have become a beloved tradition, blending artistry, inclusivity, and sheer fabulousness. This year’s theme pays tribute to an era of musical innovation and cultural transformation. Expect renditions of songs by legends like John Lennon, ABBA, The Bee Gees, and more.

“These CGMC members are really putting their hearts and voices into this,” said Kevin Corbett, CGMC’s Managing Director. “The legendary music of the '70s makes this event one of the highlights of our season. Whether you’re a longtime CGMC supporter or a first-time attendee, you will surely leave with a smile on your face.”

ABOUT CHICAGO GAY MEN’S CHORUS
The Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus (CGMC) has been an integral part of Chicago’s cultural and gay communities since 1983. For more than three decades, the chorus has entertained audiences across the continent with innovative musical programming exploring everything from love to politics to the sometimes fabulous, sometimes challenging world of being gay; often all at the same time. Our always-memorable performances have included original musical revues; full-length book musicals; traditional choral concerts and intimate cabaret presentations; all punctuated with our signature joyous irreverence. Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus was inducted into the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame in 2001. Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs presented CGMC with the 2023 award for Outstanding Achievement in Arts and Humanities in honor of LGBTQIA+ history month in October 2023. The Chicago City Council passed a resolution celebrating CGMC’s 40th Anniversary in December 2023, and the Chorus was recognized by Mayor Brandon Johnson.
